WHAT IS A TOILET RAT BLOCKER & WHY DO YOU NEED ONE?

Wikipeida estimates there are over 7 billion rats in the world, roughly the same amount as the human population. It’s impossible to know for sure as rats are nocturnal and like to keep out of sight, so the number could in fact be much higher.

Sewers provide an ideal living and breeding ground for rats, the combination of available food and water, along with the warm dark atmosphere is nigh on perfect for them. Rats are excellent swimmers and can squeeze through the teeniest of gaps. Once in the sewerage system they can travel for miles, they are inquisitive creatures and can especially be drawn to light from an open toilet.

Some signs that rats may be using the sewerage pipes in and around your property might be recurring blockages, persistent unpleasant odours in sinks and maybe even noises.

If you suspect you may have uninvited ratty guests, or if you would like to add preventative measures, then a rat blocker can be just what you need.

A rat blocker creates a physical barrier that stops rats in the sewer from gaining access to the pipes of your toilet and/or drain. Plastic rat blockers are particularly cost-effective, especially if you buy a trusted brand such as MultiFlap. The MultiFlap non-return valve has been tested in over two million open and closing cycles and will last for in excess of 30 years!

Unlike chemical control methods like rat poison, a preventative measure such as the MultiFlap rodent blocker doesn’t contain any harmful substances and does not present a danger to wildlife or the environment. In fact, they help to protect the integrity of the drain system and prevent leakage of chemicals into the environment.

As well as being kind to the environment, rat blockers such as MultiFlap are also humane. They prevent rats straying into toilets by simply showing them that there is no access through the area where it is fitted. No poison, no traps, just a closed access point.
